She is inspired to see this grassroots arts community continually flowing through the multiple mediums and outlets. In her leisure time, Jennifer enjoys reading, beading, hiking, mountain biking, and skiing.
Dawn Banks, Secretary
Dawn first began visiting Teton Valley in 1999 and made it her home permanently in 2005 after graduating from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Communication, Minors in General Business and Public Relations and an emphasis in Writing. A lover of the arts, she became involved with the Teton Arts Council in March 2008 as a way to more actively participate in the efforts to bring artistic opportunity to the residents of Teton Valley. Since joining the Teton Arts Council Board, Dawn has worked to generate more public awareness of the Teton Arts Council and the activities offered to valley residents as well as serving on the Shakespeare in the Park organizing committee. “It’s an exciting time in Teton Valley, and I am honored to be a part of the Teton Arts Council as they continue to increase artistic and cultural opportunities for our ever-increasing population.”
Michael Peters
Michael is a retired engineer from Idaho Falls who with his wife, Sandy, moved to Teton Valley to fulfill a dream of building a permanent home here in full view of the Tetons and Grand Targhee. Mike was for many years associated with the Idaho Falls Opera Theatre, first as a singer on stage, then as a scenic painter, set designer, and board member for the IFOT. He has also designed and built sets for several Idaho Falls Youth Arts Center stage productions. Mike was a member of the Idaho Falls Arts Council where he assisted the technical stage crew at the Colonial Theatre in supporting several professional stage productions appearing there. Mike brings a desire to volunteer for "hands on" support of the our mission for the growth of the arts community in Teton Valley.
Emily Soderlund
Emily comes from Minneapolis, Minnesota where she lived most of her life. She worked in the corporate world before moving to Teton Valley to find liberation in a small, caring community. Emily was a Scandinavian Studies Major, graduating from Gustavus Adolphus College. While studying abroad in Sweden for a year, she was introduced to various formal art classes, including oil painting and birch bark weaving. From that time forward, she has been inspired to seek out art in as many places and in as many forms as possible. Emily is excited to be part of an organization that fosters the joy of art, in all its forms, for children of all ages.
Trevor Garner
A born-and-raised native of Portland, Oregon, Trevor Garner moved to Jackson, Wyoming on a whim in 2001 in an effort to escape the rain and find a cold and snowy winter. He then moved to his current residence in Victor, Idaho in 2006. Trevor currently works as a service manager at Wells Fargo Bank in Driggs and brings a wealth of business and financial experience to the Board. He is an avid cyclist, skier, and distance-runner and loves the Teton Valley area for its endless wilderness recreational opportunities and abundance of breath-taking scenery. In Trevor's words: "The Teton Arts Council gives me an opportunity to help support and become more actively involved in our generous community."
New Art Center
The Teton Arts Council is developing a plan for land improvement around the existing Arts Center on Rodeo Drive, Driggs. The land is currently unimproved area but could be so much more. The view of the Grand Teton is tremendous! Our goal for the land improvement will include an outdoor art park with space to hold gatherings, outdoor workshops, and small events. We would love to hear from our Members! Look for invitations to come out this summer and tell us what you think.
Our Sponsors
Many of the programs offered by The Teton Arts Council would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors. We greatly appreciate your support and participation.
We are equally grateful for the countless members of our community that have stepped up to the plate to volunteer time, talent, and sometimes a little money of their own.
Our Mission
The mission of the Teton Arts Council is to develop, nurture, and celebrate our cultural life through education, performances, exhibitions, and community opportunities.
In 2007, we started the volunteer Resident Artists Program to plan, organize and execute the art programming. These volunteers are well-respected artists who give back to the Artist Community by ensuring that the arts classes and workshops continue to offer compelling and relevant education opportunities. If you are interested in volunteering as a Resident Artist, please contact the Board Chair by sending email to info@tetonartscouncil.com
